The American Douglas A-20 Havoc/Boston twin-engine bombers were deployed on many battlefields of World War II, performing particularly successfully in the Pacific region. The machine was created on the basis of a tender for a new type of light attack bomber from 1937. The first prototype of the aircraft under the designation Douglas Model 7B took off on October 26, 1938. For attacks from low altitudes, these machines, which bore the designation Gunship, were equipped with bow-mounted machine guns.
