The Fairey Swordfish was a British airborne torpedo plane still in use during World War II. Although it was at first glance an archaic and outdated machine, it was still able to significantly influence the course of the war. The most famous feat of the type was the damage to the German battleship Bismarck, which resulted in its total destruction. A total of 2,392 machines were produced, with the last of them ending their active career in 1945.
