High quality 1:72 scale metal collectible model of the American Vought F-8 Crusader airborne fighter.
Template information
The Vought F-8 Crusader was an American jet-powered airborne fighter aircraft capable of attack and reconnaissance missions. The single-seat, single-engine aircraft was developed by Vought and was a replacement for its previous design, the Vought F7U Cutlass fighter.
The Crusader became the US Navy's first supersonic fighter and also the last American fighter whose main armament consisted of cannon rather than guided missiles. A photoreconnaissance version of the RF-8 was also created, which remained in active service much longer than the fighter versions. Photographs taken by the RF-8 aircraft played an important role during the so-called Cuban Crisis. In the US, Crusaders were operated until 1987, outside the US they served much longer.
