From the design of the Bell AH-1 Huey Cobra helicopter, which was used in large numbers in Vietnam, Bell developed an improved version of the AH-1 Super Cobra, which has increased combat capabilities and other improvements. The first deliveries of this type to the US-Marine units were made in 1986. The armament consists of a 20 mm rapid-fire cannon and a wide range of anti-aircraft and anti-surface missiles of the type Sidewinder, Hellfire, Zuni and others.
