Information about the model (Sd.Kfz.251/1 Ausf.A)
The Sd.Kfz.251 represented the basic armored personnel carrier of the German army, developed by Hanomag as the HKL6p type. It weighed 9 tons and carried 10 infantrymen, a machine gunner, a commander and a driver. Like the Sd.Kfz.250, it was armed with two MG 34 or 42 machine guns as standard. It entered service in 1939 and was deployed mainly with tank divisions. However, the introduction of the type to other units had to wait, because the German arms industry was not sufficient for the high rate of armament, so the units were armed with it only during the war. Like the Sd.Kfz.250, the transporter was modified and a number of versions were created.
Information about the design (Panzerspähwagen P 204 (f))
The P 204 (f) was a French armored car used primarily for reconnaissance purposes. The drive was provided by a Panhard I SK engine with an output of 105 horsepower, which gave the vehicle a maximum speed of up to 72 km/h on the road. This light armored car carried standard armament in the form of a 25 mm cannon and one machine gun. Vehicles of this type were deployed in 1940 during the campaign in Western Europe. The Germans themselves were well aware of the quality of the P 204 (f), so they included the captured vehicles in the equipment of their own units.
Information about the model (Sd.Kfz.247 Ausf.B)
In 1936, the German Ordnance Office drew up specifications for a new armored staff car, which was supposed to enable senior officers to move safely near the front. The result was an armored car that received the designation Sd.Kfz.247. Thus, 2 different variants of the vehicle were created, which bore the designation Ausf.A, the later Ausf.B. The chassis and power unit of the six-wheel version of the Ausf.A came from the Krupp L2H 143 truck. The later produced and vastly different variant Ausf.B already used a chassis of only four wheels, with each wheel independently suspended. As standard, the Sd.Kfz.247 contained no armament, but some vehicles were fitted with a mount for an MG 34 machine gun.
