Template information
The Ilyushin Il-10 was a Soviet fighter aircraft developed in the design office of Sergei Vladimirovich Ilyushin. This machine was also produced under license at the Avia aircraft factory in Czechoslovakia under the designation Avia B-33. From the very beginning of the fighting on the Eastern Front, the Soviets successfully used the Il-2 Šturmovik, powered by the Mikulin AM-38 in-line engine. However, over time, the Soviet Air Force made a request for a successor to this type. The new aircraft was supposed to be faster and more maneuverable at low altitudes. The key was to improve the fighter's resistance to the effects of anti-aircraft weapons of smaller calibers and to eliminate some of the known shortcomings of the Il-2. The first production Il-10 took off on 27 September 1944, with 99 aircraft produced by the end of 1944. A total of 6,166 machines of all versions were produced, including those produced under license.
