In the 1930s, the German aviation industry developed passenger or mail aircraft that were easy to convert into military versions. The Junkers Ju-86 was also officially designed as a civilian machine for commercial use. It was a twin-engine monoplane that later equipped the squadrons of the newly formed Luftwaffe as a bomber. Similar to the Heinkel He 111 and Dornier Do-17, the Junkers Ju-86 was also used in 1936 during the Spanish Civil War. As a medium-range bomber, it served under the standard of the Condor Legion. Thanks to its twin Junkers Jumo 205 engines, the Ju-86 was able to reach a maximum speed of 300 km/h and carry up to 1000 kg of weapons. This machine also participated in the initial stages of the Polish campaign, but was soon replaced by more modern and efficient aircraft. In addition to the Luftwaffe, it was also used by the Swedish and Hungarian air forces.
