Každý den, neúnavně a bez přestání, operuje evropská rybářská flotila na širém oceánu od Newfoundlandu po Norsko, přičemž je neustále vydána na milost a nemilost přírodním živlům a nelítostnému moři. Během své třítýdenní cesty stráví takovýto trauler samotným rybařením pouze zhruba týden, zbylé dva týdny zabere cesta do rybolovných oblastí a poté návrat domů.
